Flags are many things to many people. To some, they are a visible symbol of statehood and national pride; to others, they represent an identification with a particular group, be it a business, sport, politics or the military. Flags can stir deep emotion and, as such, are powerful elements in our knowledge of who we are and where we belong. Learning about the flags of other nations opens a window through which we can begin to view other cultures with more understanding.
